generally when preparing artwork assets for a new replication project there are at least two files you need to provide. One file for the disc face and one file for the cover. ecodiscs offers optional print pieces like inserts, booklets or library sleeves. If you have special requirements, please call.

disc faces (template)

ecodiscs produce 5-color offset printed discs as standard (no extra charge). first we apply a white base coat, followed by normal four press cmyk colors (cyan, magenta, yellow + black). All inks are vegetable based - typically soy to reduce voc's.

the printable size of a disc is 115mm. the center cutout is 41mm and the width of the printable face is 37mm. allow at least .5 point trapping wherever two colors touch and screen tints should be in the 20-80% range. text shouldn't be smaller than 6 points. all text should be outlined, or fonts should be provided along with art file. (vector fonts give the best results).

dvd covers (template)

dvd covers are used when packaging a disc inside an amaray case. all covers are printed on recycled paper using a standard offset press using soy inks and produce a full bleed print piece (after it's cut). covers are 10 3/4" wide by 7 1/4" high and you should add at least 1/8" on all sides to support the bleed, but remember not to place any graphical elements too close to the edge for fear of it getting cut off (follow the template instructions carefully).

ecodiscs can handle file resolutions as high as 900dpi, but anything over 300dpi will print just fine. Low-res files will produce low-quality covers and may get rejected.

inserts/booklets (template)

inserts and multi-page booklets are printed using the same methods & materials as the covers described above. call us if your project has special needs.

sleeves/wallets (templates)

our cardboard sleeves and wallets are all produced using recycled card stock that contain at least 20% post-consumer recycled materials. all are printed with a vibrant 4-color offset process and we always use vegetable inks in our manufacturing facility.
